For the past three years, my wife and I have been taking an extended vacation for a month. We spent the first month in Savannah, GA and the past two trips have been to North Myrtle Beach SC.
The thing with going away for a month is getting all your stuff to take without over-cramming the car. We know there are certain things we will need and certain things we will want while gone. It can be quite an ordeal to figure it all out and get everything packed.
Once we arrive at our destination, it can be another ordeal getting everything unloaded and into our condo. Needless to say, we would not want to go through all of this for any less than a month's stay.
You can imagine staying away from home for a month and at times asking the question, where's my stuff. No matter what, when away from home there is always something you forget or something you would like to have with you.
Getting away from the regular routine and enjoying a month away at a destination you enjoy is great. Yet, being away from your stuff can be just a little daunting at times. We get so used to being in our own home and around the things we enjoy that leaving things behind can be hard sometimes.
I guess the best thing would to be able to afford to own two places and keep two sets of your stuff, then you would always be prepared for what you want in each place. Of course, not many of us have the finances for such a life. So, we will continue to pack up our car once a year, drive to our destination, unpack and a few days later say, where's my stuff.
Been there, done that. Last winter we spent January in a southeastern Georgia shipping village. It was a very nice condo, but I don't like packing all the stuff back and forth. Honestly, a month was too long for me because I didn't have some of the pastimes that I have at home. Was thinking about flying to Padre Island, TX this year, but was so expensive, we will be driving. So, we will be dealing with "stuff" again. Guess this really is a first world problem. BTW, I will be on Substack beginning tomorrow.
